Study Tip of the Month

(August - September, 2026; first month of autumn 2026 semester)

The first and sometimes overlooked study tip is that YOU SHOULD GO TO THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY ONE OF YOUR CLASSES.

To think that it is completely unimportant to go to the first day of class is not correct, and that is true even if the teacher/professor allows the class to leave early.

It is helpful to get to know your teachers, and the first day of class is an important part of that.

It is also very important to go to the first day of class to receive any papers that the teacher gives out to the students.

On the first day of class many teachers give out a course schedule, called a syllabus, that tells what will be taught in the class.

In addition to being a schedule, including the days of tests and when papers are due, it often includes the way that grades will be determined.

Even though you could probably get the syllabus from the teacher on the second day of class if you do not go to the first day, the best thing for you to do is to GO TO THE FIRST MEETING OF EVERY ONE OF YOUR CLASSES, and get to know your teachers and their policies as best and as early as you can, so you will know how best to succeed in each class.
